Art Associations:

Association of Visual Artswww.ava.co.za.   Worthwhile being a member if you live in Cape Town, also have some nice competitions to get your work out there.

South African Society of Artists, no website but can be contacted on 021 7972601, This association has been around for over 100 years in one form or another.

Art News and Directories:

Arttimes:  Simply the best art mag in South Africa, free to the public you can also access the full version of their latest edition at:   www.arttimes.co.za

South African Art Information directory:  The SAAID directory is probably the most comprehensive directory of South African Artists, galleries and art information in South Africa www.saaid.co.za  

 Online Galleries:

Art.co.za  another good resource of artists, galleries and art training in South Africa:     www.art.co.za 

Best Annual Art Competition:

The Spier Contemporary Award: Check this out, brand new annual art competition taking over from the Brett Kebble Art Awards. R1 Million in prize money. Entries close in August: www.spiercontemporary.co.za

Best artist forum:

If you want to link up with other artists from around the world you must go to www.wetcanvas.com   It might take you a minute or two to work out how this site works but it is well worth the effort as it offers the artist support, information and encouragement from around the world, simply brilliant.  

Stuff for Kids

 Get Kids to know all about art elements and have some fun at www.artsconnected.org/toolkit
